Las Vegas - Taxis, Limos, and Shuttle buses
You are heading to Las Vegas and you have no idea how you are going to get from the airport to your hotel, much less how to get around Las Vegas once you get there. Let's look at some of your options.
Taxis:
To take a cab from the airport just follow the "this way to taxi" signs, you should not have any trouble. If you take a cab to a Casino located on the Strip you can run into several price ranges, if you are staying on the end of the strip closest to the airport, like the Mandalay Bay, you are looking at about $10 to $13. If you are staying on the far end of the strip, near the Stratosphere, you are looking at an average of $18. Anywhere in between will be about $13 to $18. If you are staying downtown the average cab ride will set you back about twenty dollars. You can usually find a cab at any casino in Vegas and the average cab ride in Las Vegas is $12. The usual tip for a cab driver should be about fifteen percent, but always tip according to the service you receive.
Limos:
Sometimes it can take a few minutes to get a cab at the airport and the line can be long especially on weekends. So some people decide to get a limousine from the airport to their hotel. Limo service in Las Vegas can be very reasonable and the rates usually start at about $40 for a luxury sedan up to $100 for a stretch Hummer limousine. It's always nice to see someone holding up a sign with your name on it when you go to claim your bags. No waiting, no fuss, you are just whisked away to your hotel in style. Standard Limo rates for being driven around Las Vegas start at $35 an hour and all kinds of tour specials are available such as nightclub, and wedding packages. The standard tip rate is 15%.
Shuttles:
For the budget minded, near the cabstand at the airport you will see a desk of a shuttle company that will offer shuttle rides in large vans to casinos on the strip and downtown. If you're heading to the strip it's $9 and downtown is $11. You can also arrange for them to pick you up and bring you back to the airport when your vacation is over and it's time to head home.
If you are staying in an off-strip property check with the hotel you are staying at and they may offer free shuttle service. Most off strip properties like The Rio, Green Valley Ranch, and Sam's Town also offer shuttle service to locations on the strip or downtown.
By far the easiest, and quickest way to get around Las Vegas is to use a taxi. So book your Las Vegas vacation today, you will have fun and you won't have any trouble getting around.
